FREE EVENT: Photosensitive - A Conversation With Bea Nettles, Creator of The Iconic 1970 Mountain Dream Tarot

In 1970, Bea Nettles began creating the Mountain Dream Tarot, considered the first fully realized photographic tarot deck. Teaching photography at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, she spent five years meticulously crafting each card using the Appalachian Mountains as a backdrop, finding inspiration from her family and artist friends. The original deck is now owned by the Beinecke Library, Yale University.

In this event, Bea will be in conversation with Laetitia, and showcase a curated selection of her beautiful images, exploring the stories behind each portrait and the technical challenges she faced while staging, printing, and even sewing the cards.
