Tarot Talk Show is a new spin on an old format. Talk shows such as The Late Show, The Tonight Show, and Late Night rely on pre-interviews to gather amusing anecdotes and interesting stories about their guests to prepare the host and help guide the conversation.
Tarot Talk Show dispenses with all that. Instead, host James Ferrera pulls cards from the Tarot to prompt his questions, relying solely on the arcana to intuitively guide his conversations with guests who straddle the zeitgeist between the worlds of Tarot, Magick, and the Occult into our pop culture consciousness.
Join us on December 30, 2023 for a special Tarot Talk Show edition of Morbid Anatomy’s Tarot Office Hourswhen James will be interviewing independent Tarot deck maker, painter, musician, gardener and the founder of Welkin Tarot, Chris Leech. Leech hails from Victoria, British Columbia. His latest deck, The Odyssean Tarot, was released last month after a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign.
Based on the myths of ancient Greece, The Odyssean Tarot combines history, psychology, mythology, and esoteric wisdom. The Major Arcana, while still concerned with individual myths and characters, delves into more significant themes concerning the intersection of mythology and psychology. Along the way, the importance of Greece as the birthplace of Western Civilization makes clear the connections between ancient culture and our own. The minor suits align with their core elements: Flame (fire), Wave (water), Wind (air), and Stone (earth).
In 2016, Welkin Tarot produced its first deck and companion book: The Beatles Tarot. Since then, Welkin has gone on to create 11 unique and highly acclaimed decks with a union of pop culture and perennial wisdom to make for a fun and fascinating Tarot-reading experience on a variety of subjects: William Shakespeare, The Golden Age of Hollywood, Charles Dickens, Alfred Hitchcock, New Wave music, Gnosticism, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Monty Python, and Star Trek (TOS).
Tarot Talk Show host James Ferrera has studied Tarot with Laetitia Barbier, author of Tarot and Divination Cards: A Visual Archive, at Morbid Anatomy, and Naha Armády, founder of 22 Teachings School of Hermetic Science and Magical Arts. Ferrera's approach to Tarot is a hybrid of scholarship and intuition.
Ferrera is also an award-winning Unit Publicist in film and television, responsible for gathering all the marketing materials needed by a studio while a project is in production. He has worked on such modern genre hits as Malignant; The Conjuring 2; The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It; Annabelle; Annabelle: Creation; Annabelle Comes Home; The Nun; The Curse of La Llorona; Lights Out; Insidious Chapter 3; Sinister 2; as well as Rob Savage's adaptation of Stephen King's short story The Boogeyman and Gary Dauberman's highly anticipated revisioning of King's Salem's Lot.
Ferrera is also the founder of Pookie Helps (www.pookiehelps.com | Insta: @pookiehelps) through which he sells handmade "Pookie Bags" to raise money for animal rescue.
