Have you ever paused to consider the fact that, beyond the Tower card, clothing becomes optional? The Star, the Judgement, the Sun, the World .... Figures stand bared to the world, stripped of their veils, with each nude figure conveying a unique symbolic resonance. But why is this? What does this progressive exposure reveal, not just about the figures themselves, but about the arc of human experience depicted in these cards?
In this class, we will explore the broad iconography of nudity from cards , focusing on the section covering XV to XXI—the Devil to the World—delving into the nuances of symbolic nakedness. Far from being arbitrary or merely provocative, this shedding of clothes represents a journey from bondage to liberation, from the constraints of the material world to a raw, honest state of being. We will focus on how each instance of vulnerability reveals different aspects of human experience, using historical references and iconological frameworks to decode these layers.
By exploring the symbolic disappearance of clothing in the Tarot, you'll uncover how the human body becomes a profound vehicle of expression. Each moment of nudity in these cards reflects key states of the soul—power, innocence, shamelessness, surrender, and rebirth. This class will equip you with the ability to decode these layers of vulnerability, guiding you to strip away your own barriers and confront deeper truths. You'll learn how to harness the raw beauty of exposure—both literal and symbolic—bringing greater depth and sensitivity to your Tarot practice, and transforming your readings into powerful journeys of self-discovery.
