Tarot Talk Show with Maria Minnis, hosted by James Ferrera

Tarot Talk Show is a new spin on an old format. Talk shows such as The Late Show, The Tonight Show, and Late Night rely on pre-interviews to gather amusing anecdotes and interesting stories about their guests to prepare the host and help guide the conversation.

Tarot Talk Show dispenses with all that. Instead, host James Ferrera pulls cards from the Tarot to prompt his questions, relying solely on the arcana to intuitively guide his conversations with guests who straddle the zeitgeist between the worlds of Tarot, Magick, and the Occult into our pop culture consciousness.

Maria Minnis is an unapologetically Black writer, ritual facilitator, and tarot reader who teaches about blending spirituality with liberation work. She has creatively worked with tarot for over twenty years and considers herself an eternal student of life, and thus the tarot. Her community program, Antiracist Tarot Society, is inspired by her belief that the end result of all magic should be to cultivate a more equitable and empathetic planet.

In TAROT FOR THE HARD WORK, Minnis takes a radical new look at the Major Arcana in this Tarot workbook that provides readers a unique, personal understanding of systemic racism—and what steps we can take to begin to dismantle it. This is a book for anyone who has been overwhelmed, outraged, or frustrated and asked, “But what can I do?” It is a book for anyone ready to do the inner work to address what can be done to demolish everyday racism. This book says Tarot can be a tool for action, a tool that may offer great satisfaction as well as great difficulty. It is a tool to push you out of your comfort zone.

James Ferrera has studied Tarot with Laetitia Barbier, author of Tarot and Divination Cards: A Visual Archive, and Naha Armády, founder of 22 Teachings School of Hermetic Science and Magical Arts. Ferrera hosts Tarot Talk Show on Barbier's Patreon where he draws Tarot cards to guide the conversation with his guests. Ferrera's approach to Tarot is a hybrid of scholarship and intuition.

Ferrera is also an award-winning publicist in film and television. He has worked on modern-day genre hits such as MalignantThe Conjuring 2The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do ItAnnabelleAnnabelle: CreationAnnabelle Comes HomeThe NunThe Curse of La LloronaLights OutInsidious Chapter 3Sinister 2; and Stephen King's The Boogeyman and Salem's Lot.
