Jean Noblet Tarot by Artisan Tarot
The Jean Noblet Tarot was produced in Paris in 1650 and is believed to be the oldest Tarot de Marseille deck. The only existing copy is preserved in the National Library of France.
This is the complete 78 card tarot deck and includes an information card and promotional card. The deck is in French and the extra cards are in English.
This restoration consisted of meticulously redrawing and recoloring the images. We clarified many of the details to create consistency. The original deck is missing the 6 - 10 of Swords which we have carefully reconstructed based on contemporary decks. Our goal was not to create an exact reproduction, but an elegant, refined deck that inspires the imagination of the modern reader.
William Rader and Krisztin Kondor founded Artisan Tarot in 2019. They curate and create the finest artisanal tarot related products. Their vision is to popularize historic decks by creating elegant restorations and recreations that inspire the imaginations of modern readers.
Krisztin has a Master’s Degree in Design from The University of Sopron. She specializes in linocut printmaking which is similar to how tarot cards were produced. This gives her unique insight on how to digitally restore the artwork.
William has been an entrepreneur and reader for over 10 years. When he’s not performing readings at corporate and private events, he’s teaching tarot through the courses offered by Artisan Tarot.
